THE HEART [8]

THE  HEART [8]

Today we continue our search in Psalms about the condition of man’s heart condition with a relationship with his Creator God. In Psalm 78 verse eight KIng James Version we read 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

So the children in this generation turned away from the wisdom of their fathers and rebelled against God. [Rebelling hearts was their heart trouble.] Instead of having a sound relationship with God they

had a shaky unsecure one.

Now let us move to verse 18 and see if things are better or worse with their relationship with God.18And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.[ Here we find them having tempting lustful hearts wanting a righteous God to feed their wicked ways. In verse we see the same heart condition toward their God was the same rebelling against God and not keeping the covenant  and now go to verse 72 and see there is no change and God took things in His hands and controlled them according to His will.70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

71 From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.

72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the sinfulness of his hands.

All through their walk with God they obeyed awhile they rebelled; God punished them to correct and the cycle kept going on as we will see as we study their walk through the Old Testament. In verse we see a heart of integrity which produces caring hands.

Turn with me to Psalm 81 verse 12.Psalm 81:12

King James Version 12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.[ Here they have lustful hearts] God lets them go their own way of disobedience but slowly teaches them through judgement and they will return one day.]Turn to chapter 84 verse two here we see the writer has a longing or searching heart and is crying to the living God. Psalm 84:2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Let’s close todays Psalm search with Psalm 86 verse eleven.KJV.11 Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.[ Here we see a desire to learn the words of God with awe of the mighty God.]
